Why Not You?

why not me

I hope you never feel as if you are insignificant.

Dream that dream.

Set those goals before you.

Because, why shouldn’t you reach them?

You, as much as anyone you admire,

deserve the chance to do what your heart desires.

Yep, sometimes it takes a long time.

And it’s really, really tough.

But that is what makes the dream or goal valuable!

If it didn’t cost a lot, if it was easy,

would you value it as much?

Why NOT you?

Only you can set those limitations on yourself.

Keep dreaming and doing and reaching, my friend!!

I’m here with you!

What IS a BOX anyway?

We shouldn't let others BOX us in.“Thinking outside the box.” “Living outside the box.”

We hear these phrases all the time.

And so I ask you, WHAT is a BOX?

As a well-practiced People Pleaser, I do believe I was living inside a box of other people’s expectations, their opinions of me, their considerations of what was a worthy pursuit for my life, their molding of my behaviors, and what were acceptable expressions of who I am.

I truly had to shake off the binders and chains in order to break out of my box.

For a taste of what my FREEDOM looks like see Girls Can.

I know that God created me to be THIS person…who I am able to be (have allowed myself to be) now. Perhaps it’s age and wisdom. Maybe I just got too tired to try to be everyone’s opinion of me.

Or perhaps it was finally realizing my worth.

I did come to learn that when we allow others to “box us in” our experiences are boxed in too. We are bound by other’s opinions especially if we allow them to dictate the choices we make. I do not refer to consulting people of wisdom. I need others in my life who will help me consider options. But I do not need those who will think less of me if I don’t follow their advice.

I am a very opinionated person. I truly desire that my opinions come from a heart of love and compassion and a spirit that seeks after God. (I cannot stand cruelty, evil, injustice, and the horrid things humans do to other humans.)

I have been criticized. And I will continue to be, because I don’t neccessarily fit the box of a “typical” American God-follower. (I spent a lot of time writing and praying before I pushed the “publish” button on my last post as I do with every post. It’s a huge responsibility and risk to put my words and opinions out into cyber space forever!)  However I try to seek God with all my heart, show love and compassion, and harm no one. If my way of being “Jesus with skin on” is different from yours and you don’t like it, well, it’s not my intention to offend. But Jesus offended many with His choices.

I would encourage you to learn to know your own self. To BE your own self. And not let the outside opinions, society, media, and sometimes even family, dissuade you from choosing to honor who you were created to be. I lost a lot of years of my life with my light hidden. I decided the world was missing out and I was incomplete and dying on the vine. So now I choose life!

this huge brilliant spectacular light of mine

Oh. And that BOX? It was flattened quite a while ago!

Have a wonderful week of self-discovery folks! And thank you so much for hanging in here with me.

Be So Good They Can’t Ignore You!

Be so good they can't ignore you

“Integrity” it the first word that came to mind when I saw this quote. And of course it applies to my business as well as my life.
*be good towards people
*be knowledgeable about your business
*be great in how you teach and share (and do business)
*be exceptionally dependable and trustworthy
*be good at havin FUN

I doubt many people ignore me now, but for many years I felt quite nondescript and non-important. I decided that I was the one to make myself feel important, and so set about changing my mindset. I’ve come to value my gifts, strengths, and personality…and play them to the hilt! 🙂

I encourage you to do the same. I love my life. And I hope that you will love yours too.

A couple of sources I’ve used are:

Strength Finder (I bought the book on Amazon)

and How To Fascinate. There are many others around that will help you find your strengths and then tell you ways to maximize them.

Keep on keeping on, dear ones.

It’s Not You, It’s Me~Guest post

I read a wonderful blog post today

from Vanessa of At The Picket Fence.

About insecurity.

I believe it’s at the heart of many damaging behaviors–

which most surely become weapons,

cutting to the very heart and soul.

My own insecurity led to attention-seeking behaviors….

people pleasing….and very “loud” body language

(because I wasn’t permitted to voice negative emotions,

and besides I might offend someone and then they would be mad at me–heaven forbid!)

Insecurity seeps into our lives because of many reasons, but I’d say the key issue is the feeling of “not good enough”.

Which leads us to lash out in anger.

To manipulate.

Seek to establish control.

To strive to please.

To engage in self-defeating behaviors.

Things I’ve worked hard to remove from my life.

My “ah-ha” moment came years ago when I realized that the only person I needed to please was God. He alone had the purest love and intentions for me. Humans all have an agenda, realized or not. We perceive and receive others through that filtered agenda. Bottom line?

Our belief programs our behavior!

what we believe is how we behave

When I let go of others’ opinions and focused on my behaviors, I began the journey to freedom. Not without setbacks and “playing those old tapes” which programmed unhealthy behaviors, but definitely toward emotional healing!

I have learned that my only competition is myself and my focus is now on changing for the better, every day if possible.

The only person

We really can’t change people unless they decide to change themselves. Sometimes our own positive, accepting behaviors toward them will encourage that change. But if it doesn’t, we still have a choice, as Vanessa states.

imagine-our-world 2

Choose wisely, my friends, for we hold

the power of life and death in our words and deeds.

Read the whole post Vanessa wrote. She states it perfectly.

Thank you Vanessa, for your inspiring words today!

Rock your world, peeps!!

Hugs and love, Passionista

Yes I AM!!! (A Valentine to Myself)

Valentine’s can be a time that sends those of us whom are uncoupled (I just learned that word, convenient, huh?) into despondency and gloom. It kind of creates the Bah Humbug spirit in us when we see the hearts and flowers, the endless ads with couples looking adoringly into each other’s eyes, even the little kids being all gaga…

It’s enough to makes us want to cry.

Perhaps you would like to try something different this year?

we are amazingly intricately different

Celebrate YOU!!

In my own journey, I have finally realized that I’m a pretty amazing person. (For more on that see https://particularpassions.me/2014/01/07/5430/).    It doesn’t matter what others think. It doesn’t depend on whether I have a significant other to tell me. It’s all about ME.

Making the choice to celebrate ME.

Seeing the good things in who I am. Finding joy in how I was created. Focusing on those things that help me contribute to others’ lives in a positive way. NOT apologizing for my kinks and uniqueness, but instead enjoying that I am different.

Oh my goodness I'm incredible!

Easy? Nope, never said that.

Possible? Yep, after a bit of work and choosing to do it.

So I made myself a Valentine this year. First time ever. And I’m sharing it with you.

You may use it too! Read these wonderful words and claim them over your life.

Yes I am!

I am no better than you are….so you are every bit as wonderful as this says. Really.

I believe we each need to give a Valentine to ourselves. If you’d like, make it into your wallpaper, print it out and READ it daily!

YOU are amazing and wonderful and the best Valentine you will ever have!!

MUCH love and hugs to you, precious Valentine! Passionista Mimi

OH, and hey, if you like what you read, why not share the love and click, pin, like, etc.? I’d give you an extra big hug. Thanks!

Words To Help

YOU are Amazing!! And don’t you forget it!

You are amazing with a side of sprinkles
You can buy this card HERE!

You ARE amazing!! I finally began to believe that about myself after a few days of saying it out loud in front of the mirror. The year was 2008. For most of my life I’d felt “less-than” so it took a bit of making a firm choice and perseverance to follow this program.

I’d sit in front of my empty journal page, pull those truths from my spirit, and begin writing them down in bulleted format. I’d walk around my house, saying, “I’m intelligent. I’m capable. I can do this. I’m creative. I’m a great problem-solver.”

Granted, I was almost afraid that I’d be struck by lightning because I’d been raised not to “toot my own horn” or brag about myself. However, I am here to STOMP that lie in the ground! Stating your awesomeness and joy in your uniqueness and abilities, your gifts and wonderful heart, is NOT bragging. It’s just proclaiming truth.

Oh my goodness I'm incredible!
You can buy this card HERE!

We need to both hear and say those truths to ourselves because the world would have us believing that we are stupid, useless, and incapable (to just name a few). Well, dear Passionista, THAT is a bunch of hog wash! Lies, every bit of it!

If you have trouble finding the truth about yourself, there are many, many resources even on Facebook that will help you. (I am one of those). But honestly, your spirit KNOWS. Give yourself time to reflect. Probably just choose the opposite of what you most likely believe about yourself, if it is degrading or detrimental to your emotional and psychological health and growth.

To be the very best YOU possible, you need to invest in yourself. Take the time. Even on the way to work if it’s your only alone time. (Ummm, reminding yourself that you are amazing after you swear at that driver might not be the best way, but hey, if it works for you go for it!) Or while you are in the shower—IF you happen to enjoy that by yourself–but getting upset with your body while you are stating your incredible amazing -ness  is quite counteractive.  Our bodies do NOT determine our awesomeness!

beauty is not in the face

I just want to encourage you to feed your own soul. As women we take care of everyone else, which can sure lead to resentment and exhaustion. Doing this is a small, but huge and important, way to nourish yourself.

So what do you say? Let me know some of your “truths” in the comment below. I’d love to hear from you! ❤

Love and hugs, Passionista

PS Hey, I have created some visuals (cards and small posters and a calendar) for you to place where you will see them to help remind you to state your truths daily. If interested, go to https://www.etsy.com/shop/EmPOWordmentCards or contact me directly. They help, they really do, and I created them with YOU in mind. Luv ya.

A Year of Wildness + Special Gift

This has been an amazing year for me in so many ways! One of those ways has been to jump off the high dive (yes, another one) and tap into my creativity in ways I never envisioned. My

EmPOWordment©Cards by Mimi  have been reaching into people’s lives in a way that thrills me! Yay! Let’s hear it for empowering and encouraging!

Let's super-size with love
Debbie Phillips, the amazing founder of Women On Fire, gave us these words during a live chat this year.

Another way I’ve grown is to become much more confident and aware of the fabulous person I am. Perhaps that sounds conceited, but really, it’s just the voice of realizing how wonderfully made we ALL are, and proclaiming it! It’s become my mission to help other women attain that same sense of awareness and confidence.

Do YOU need this gentle reminder?

One of the things that helped me to focus, grow, and embrace ME is that I joined an online group called Wild Sisterhood. This is a very creative bunch of women led by Jen Saunders from Australia. The ladies in this group are encouraging and offer all they have to help a sister out. She is offering a special rate to join. There are so many things you receive, besides the support of online sisterhood (free e-classes, gorgeous computer wallpapers, printouts, and graphics that nourish your soul).

2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I want to encourage you to LIVE Loud and Make it COUNT this year. Now, even though I’m naturally a loud person, that isn’t what I mean here. What I mean is to live your life with passion, gusto, meaning!! In everything you do….LIVE it. IN the moment. Do not become dulled by the busyness, by the stress and worry. Dullness may seem to help you survive, but you miss out on so much that way. I’m not one to talk about silver linings, but I DO know that in every single situation there is at least ONE thing to be grateful for.Image

There have been many times in my life that that one thing is what kept me going. And in recognizing its presence, I discovered even more! So Passionistas, I encourage you grab hold and live your life LOUD!

Love and hugs, Passionista Mimi
