Self-Care Is Love

self care is love 2

We put everyone and everything else first, at the expense of our health and spirit. Society has programmed us that way. Stop listening to the lies. You are enough already. MORE than enough.

You do not have to earn your way or work to deserve love (I learned this way too late in life) and there is nothing to prove.

You are amazing and capable and wonderful just the way you are.

Your job will be there (asking more and more).

Your house will be dirty anyway. Ask for help. Have a family meeting.

State your purpose and reason for taking some self time.

And KNOW that you don’t have to do it all.

At work, do a quality job, but don’t sacrifice your health and family and creative outlets to try and satisfy unrealistic demands and standards.

Respect yourself and others will too.

Darlin’, GO for that walk, to art class, out with friends, to yoga.

Take a long bath.

Paint, draw, color, shape, mold, sew, dig–whatever fills your creative spirit.

Say “no” more.

Give yourself space to breathe.

When we love ourselves, we love everyone else better.

That is all there is to it!!

By the way, I love you. (And I’m going to go do some stretches. Yay me!)

Thanks for visiting.

Love and hugs, Passionista

What’s In A Word?

Believe

The year is flying by and we are well into 2016. At this point, if we made New Year’s resolutions, about eighty percent of us will have abandoned them. That used to be me but I don’t set resolutions any more. I’ve adopted a different approach to help me focus on reaching important life changes, business goals, and spiritually-nourishing activities that I need in my life.

I now use the “Word Of The Year” as my guide. The program I use is by Carrie Saba who is a health and lifestyle coach.

I’m sure you have heard “What you focus on you become” and “You get what you focus on” most likely having realized these truths for yourself. So choosing to focus on one word will give you incredible intensity!

Here’s the deal. Words have energy. Words speak life. Choosing one word to envelop, sustain, and help create your life for a year will bring what you are focusing on into your life. It’s a simple yet powerful way to guide your actions, choices, and plans, and achieve change.

To read the rest of my article about this empowering way to set goals, and to receive a gift code for a FREE companion guide to choosing your own WOTY, visit Abrazine.com here. The gift code is available until March 31, so get over there and grab it!!

Until next time, may you shine your light for all to see!

Bird Rules: A Lighthearted Correlation Between Birds and Humans

bird rules 2

Today I’m sharing my post on Aabrazine.
I love watching the birds outside my kitchen window, and they have actually taught me some things about life!

I hope this post delights you. And maybe you can take some time to watch the birds too.

Until next time,

First You Must Trust Yourself

first you must trust yourself

First you must trust yourself…if you can’t, you may put too much weight on what others think or say.

Everything you need is inside you.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

You are enough. You are capable.

You are fabulous.

Your own mind and heart know. Truly.

Just take the time to see and know

what’s inside of you.

It’s actually pretty amazing!

Why NOT Me?

why not me

You should never feel as if you are insignificant and undeserving.

Dream that dream.

Set those goals before you.

Because, why shouldn’t you reach them?

You, as much as anyone you admire,

deserve the chance to do what your heart desires.

Yep, sometimes it takes a long time.

And it’s really, really tough.

But that is what makes the dream or goal valuable!

If it wasn’t hard and didn’t take a lot of investment,

if it was easy, would you value it as much?

Why NOT you?

Only you can set those limitations on yourself.

Think about it.

Words To Help

We Can’t Give More Than What We Are

we can't give more than what we are

Without giving ourselves compassion,

 we can’t be compassionate.

When we judge ourselves harshly,

we can’t be accepting.

If we feel that our lives lack,

we can’t give generously.

When we feel that we are not enough,

we can’t lift up and applaud others.

When we take ourselves too seriously,

we can’t enjoy life.

If we don’t love ourselves unconditionally,

we can’t truly love others without conditions.

If we aren’t honest with ourselves,

we can’t grow and change.

These are truths I’ve gleaned over the years

of re-inventing myself.

Of becoming the person I was truly created to be.

I believe JOY

Your life is amazing. If you are breathing, you have something to be grateful for. And gratefulness will create joy. It will bring abundance (I’m not talking monetary value, but the value of life, friends, and passions that fill your soul.)

And just in case you were wondering…..there is enough for all of us.

Enough love

passion

friends

work

joy

adventure

creativity

We have a tendency to view the world from our little worm hole

and think that we are never, ever going to be enough, have enough, or live enough.

I used to be like that.

Then I realized that there are billions of people. Millions of opportunities.

We live in a great big world.

And though you may not especially like your life right now, it can change.

Change is always possible.

Of course, it means conquering the limiting emotion of fear.

It means you have to stop lying to yourself.

To change means becoming vulnerable.

YIKES!! No way! I can’t do it! I’m so afraid! It will hurt too much.

And what will happen to me?

Change will happen. Better will happen. Abundance will happen.

So will love, joy, adventure, assurance, confidence, and fulfillment.

I’m rooting for you, cheering you on as you make wise, healthy choices toward becoming more so you can give more.

For it’s in giving that we grow toward abundance.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Love and hugs, Passionista

Stop Trying To Get It Right

stop trying to get it right

Today I read those words from Your Worthy Self and I wanted to stand up and cheer!

For so many, many years, actually for decades, I lived my life trying to get everything right. Typical “People Pleaser” right here.

The thing about living like that? It’s exhausting. And depletes our joy. And we give other people power over us because we make “them” right.

So, here’s what I say. Decide what you want and go for it. Who cares if you make mistakes? So what if you miss at first? Give yourself some grace. And don’t give a darn what others think. (Many of them are hoping you fail because then it excuses their own fear. Did you know that?)

You owe it to your true self to attempt those things that you believe will fulfill your soul. What if you never go for it? You will always wonder what would have happened if you did–how your life might have changed for the better–what you may have learned along the way.

Don’t live with regrets. Just do it. With gusto and abandon!!

Because, you just never know!!

(Print out the above reminder and put it where you can read it daily. )

Live LOUD friends! You have one life. Live it with gusto!

What IS a BOX anyway?

We shouldn't let others BOX us in.“Thinking outside the box.” “Living outside the box.”

We hear these phrases all the time.

And so I ask you, WHAT is a BOX?

As a well-practiced People Pleaser, I do believe I was living inside a box of other people’s expectations, their opinions of me, their considerations of what was a worthy pursuit for my life, their molding of my behaviors, and what were acceptable expressions of who I am.

I truly had to shake off the binders and chains in order to break out of my box.

For a taste of what my FREEDOM looks like see Girls Can.

I know that God created me to be THIS person…who I am able to be (have allowed myself to be) now. Perhaps it’s age and wisdom. Maybe I just got too tired to try to be everyone’s opinion of me.

Or perhaps it was finally realizing my worth.

I did come to learn that when we allow others to “box us in” our experiences are boxed in too. We are bound by other’s opinions especially if we allow them to dictate the choices we make. I do not refer to consulting people of wisdom. I need others in my life who will help me consider options. But I do not need those who will think less of me if I don’t follow their advice.

I am a very opinionated person. I truly desire that my opinions come from a heart of love and compassion and a spirit that seeks after God. (I cannot stand cruelty, evil, injustice, and the horrid things humans do to other humans.)

I have been criticized. And I will continue to be, because I don’t neccessarily fit the box of a “typical” American God-follower. (I spent a lot of time writing and praying before I pushed the “publish” button on my last post as I do with every post. It’s a huge responsibility and risk to put my words and opinions out into cyber space forever!)  However I try to seek God with all my heart, show love and compassion, and harm no one. If my way of being “Jesus with skin on” is different from yours and you don’t like it, well, it’s not my intention to offend. But Jesus offended many with His choices.

I would encourage you to learn to know your own self. To BE your own self. And not let the outside opinions, society, media, and sometimes even family, dissuade you from choosing to honor who you were created to be. I lost a lot of years of my life with my light hidden. I decided the world was missing out and I was incomplete and dying on the vine. So now I choose life!

this huge brilliant spectacular light of mine

Oh. And that BOX? It was flattened quite a while ago!

Have a wonderful week of self-discovery folks! And thank you so much for hanging in here with me.

Be So Good They Can’t Ignore You!

Be so good they can't ignore you

“Integrity” it the first word that came to mind when I saw this quote. And of course it applies to my business as well as my life.
*be good towards people
*be knowledgeable about your business
*be great in how you teach and share (and do business)
*be exceptionally dependable and trustworthy
*be good at havin FUN

I doubt many people ignore me now, but for many years I felt quite nondescript and non-important. I decided that I was the one to make myself feel important, and so set about changing my mindset. I’ve come to value my gifts, strengths, and personality…and play them to the hilt! 🙂

I encourage you to do the same. I love my life. And I hope that you will love yours too.

A couple of sources I’ve used are:

Strength Finder (I bought the book on Amazon)

and How To Fascinate. There are many others around that will help you find your strengths and then tell you ways to maximize them.

Keep on keeping on, dear ones.
