Words To Help

I’m a Warrior, Not A Worrier!

I am a warrior 3

Today my friend’s situation reminded me of the need for this card. There are a bunch of things pressing in on me and my brain is in a tizzy (southern expression for going crazy).

*I’m trying to get a seat belt installed before heading south. I had to cut it because my son became entangled in it, it retracted, and there was no other way to get him out. My auto tech guy had torn my van apart in order to access where it has to be installed, only to find out that I received the wrong seat belt from the dealer where I’d ordered it.

I’m crunched for time here. The seat belt cost $100 and now I have to drive 20 minutes to return it. And order another one, which would come in next Tuesday or Wednesday! Or try to find one. Have I mentioned I’m crunched for time?

*I may need new tires too because mine aren’t grabbing all that well in the snow. AND it’s supposed to snow/sleet on the day we are scheduled to leave. Ugh!

*I am working tonight, and while that is generally a fun time, I have been running for months and just want to be home. Tomorrow is another day of running. I’m getting kind of pooped. And honestly, doing this alone is sometimes overwhelming.

*I have a ton of wrapping to do before I leave. Because I haven’t even been home, this has mounted up. Not to mention the laundry, packing for a week, dishes, trying to keep growing teens fed….. I just want to stay home one full day!

The list is adding up, besides all the Christmas-y “to dos” that are the usual. Programs, gifts, decorating, and such.

SO I am practicing what I write about. I am taking a deep breath. I am trusting that things will all be finished, and I am believing that my Father has it all under control.

I do NOT want worry to steal from this most miraculous season. Last night I was crabby with my kids. That’s not how I want to spend the next week! I want to celebrate this season by relishing in each precious moment with my children and my family. These times pass so very quickly, and honestly, people are what it’s all about.

I’m also looking for alternative solutions:

I can wrap my presents when I get to my family’s house.

I can stay off of Facebook so I have more time.

I can choose the most important things to do first, instead of doing 6 things at once like I usually do.

And the money? Well I know that will work out. And I am working tonight so that will help.

I know from experience that these things do actually smooth out. So right now?

I am choosing to revive my inner warrior and banish the worrier!

What about you?

I am wishing you a very blessed and calm Christmas season. It is fast approaching, and I hope you can enjoy it to the fullest. That is MY plan.

Love and blessings and big sparkle hugs!

Be The Light (Guest Post)

6-june-it-is-your-light-that-lights-the-world

I was born to shine

BE THE LIGHT

Social media.

A discussion had taken place on Facebook. A political one (shocker!). And I found myself getting sucked into it.

My engagement in it was minimal, but the effect it was having on me was significant. I allowed it to suck me in, to take me to a place that felt very dark. It left me feeling confused, fearful and isolated.

As I stood there at my kitchen sink, washing up the last of the dinner dishes, I realized that I was giving power to this darkness by permitting it to invade my mind and my spirit.

And that’s when I felt the gentle voice of my Heavenly Father reminding me of the truth. The truth of His sovereignty and what He is calling me to be in this temporary world of mine.

He is calling me to be light.

So, when I was approached by my dear friend Deborah of Salvage Sister and Mister to join the challenge to be the light in the ever growing dark world and confusing world of social media, I didn’t hesitate to say yes!

***During the week of Nov 1-8, 8 bloggers will share their stories and encouragement to be the light in the darkness.***

The purpose of the ‘Be the Light Challenge’ is to encourage~

  • How to share opinions (political or not) in a Godly manner

  • How to guard our hearts and minds

  • How to deal with conflict online

  • Setting limits/boundaries (1 Corinthians 6:12)

  • Encouraging/building others up

  • Fruits of the Spirit

this huge brilliant spectacular light of mine

Visit her blog post for the links to other bloggers that are helping us through the darkness. I’m really glad they are doing this.

Perhaps you’d like to shine YOUR light too. Think about it.

Big hugs and sparkles and lotsa LIGHT!!

The Lies That Bind Us

You were created for a purpose

and are amazing,

creative,

valuable,

and productive.

YOU were born to shine!!

I was born to shine

Do you believe that? Or do you struggle to believe that you were born to shine because instead you believe lies about yourself? Perhaps lies like you are stupid, unlovable, you will never amount to anything, you are ugly, or you are worthless.

If so, these lies are the result of believing negative things you have felt or that people have said about you. Many of us have done that and are now full of hurt and feel broken.

So what do I mean when I say “lies”?

Lies are thoughts or the words and actions of others that cause us to behave in a self-defeating or destructive way. Lies are limiting because they create FEAR and hold us back.

I describe fear as

Firmly Encouraging and Allowing Rubbish.

When we listen to all that rubbish going on in our brain it’s impossible to be our real, true selves. Most likely we haven’t been taught about how thought processes work so we continue to believe rubbish about ourselves. It piles up over the years until we have a whole ton of garbage that weighs us down. My goal is to help you, in a simplified way, understand how our thoughts can work against us.

The lies we believe during our formative years set us up to believe lies as adults. By the time we become adults we are firmly entrenched in this belief system which affects how we consider ourselves.

5 belief determines behavior

Belief Determines Behavior

So how do we change our belief system so we can change our behavior?

Find out how by reading my article here.

If you’d like to read my first post on this subject (because it’s one that is dear to my heart), find it here.

May your life be blessed as you incorporate these ideas to help you live with fullness and freedom from the fear that binds.

Love and big hugs along this journey,

Passionista

I Hope You Blew It!

Picture 1 3.15 edit

I hope you have messed up really big. At least once in your life. Better yet, a whole bunch of messes. Mistakes. Wrong choices. Foot-in-your-mouth embarrassment and falling down onstage kinds of messing up.

And please don’t think I’m mean, but I really hope that life has given you lemons. And disappointments. And some really hard times to work through.

Now before you think me cruel-hearted, stay with me a bit. I have some things to say about why struggles and challenges in our life are a good thing. This is truly a Motivational Monday post and you can read the rest here.

And if something I said helped you (because that is what this is for, actually) go ahead and share it with someone who needs it too! I’d be ever so grateful! Spread the word!

Love and hugs,

What’s In A Word?

Believe

The year is flying by and we are well into 2016. At this point, if we made New Year’s resolutions, about eighty percent of us will have abandoned them. That used to be me but I don’t set resolutions any more. I’ve adopted a different approach to help me focus on reaching important life changes, business goals, and spiritually-nourishing activities that I need in my life.

I now use the “Word Of The Year” as my guide. The program I use is by Carrie Saba who is a health and lifestyle coach.

I’m sure you have heard “What you focus on you become” and “You get what you focus on” most likely having realized these truths for yourself. So choosing to focus on one word will give you incredible intensity!

Here’s the deal. Words have energy. Words speak life. Choosing one word to envelop, sustain, and help create your life for a year will bring what you are focusing on into your life. It’s a simple yet powerful way to guide your actions, choices, and plans, and achieve change.

To read the rest of my article about this empowering way to set goals, and to receive a gift code for a FREE companion guide to choosing your own WOTY, visit Abrazine.com here. The gift code is available until March 31, so get over there and grab it!!

Until next time, may you shine your light for all to see!

Love and hugs, Passionista Mimi

First You Must Trust Yourself

first you must trust yourself

First you must trust yourself…if you can’t, you may put too much weight on what others think or say.

Everything you need is inside you.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

You are enough. You are capable.

You are fabulous.

Your own mind and heart know. Truly.

Just take the time to see and know

what’s inside of you.

It’s actually pretty amazing!

Why NOT Me?

why not me

You should never feel as if you are insignificant and undeserving.

Dream that dream.

Set those goals before you.

Because, why shouldn’t you reach them?

You, as much as anyone you admire,

deserve the chance to do what your heart desires.

Yep, sometimes it takes a long time.

And it’s really, really tough.

But that is what makes the dream or goal valuable!

If it wasn’t hard and didn’t take a lot of investment,

if it was easy, would you value it as much?

Why NOT you?

Only you can set those limitations on yourself.

Think about it.

Invisible Illness Week

To participate in Invisible Illness Week, my friend, Shai Ford, has written openly, emotionally, and with great vulnerability about what it is like to live with not one, but two, illnesses that are “invisible” to people, meaning their symptoms are not easily seen.

I am sharing her post today because we need to be more aware. We need to give support to our friends and loved ones who suffer (and yes they do suffer). So many diseases have huge support of the public because their symptoms are highly visible. And yet, “invisible” illnesses are just as debilitating, but not as fully-supported because we lack awareness.

So, she has written to obtain support. To get the knowledge out there. To express her life. So that we can know that:

“It’s picking up your cell phone (or a glass of tea, a dish, a pile of laundry, or anything else a mom, wife, or business owner may pick up), and watching it hit the ground before you realize you didn’t actually have it in your hand.

It’s wanting to spend time with people, but not wanting to explain that a 15 minute drive for coffee simply hurts.

It’s having a great hatred for spoon-sucking grocery stores…because driving, and cold, and carrying, and lifting, and everything someone with RA doesn’t want to do all in a short period of time.

It’s completely avoiding sitting on the couch or laying down with the kids because a) You’re not sure you can get back up and b) You know you have the ability to fall asleep in .2 seconds.

It’s being completely exhausted by something as simple as changing clothes or taking a shower.”

to just show you a small excerpt from her post.

It would be truly wonderful if you could take a few moments and read her post….all the way through the list of 30 things. And grasp at understanding. Walk a mile in her shoes for just a moment. And if you know someone with a debilitating-though-invisible condition, give them understanding and hugs (gentle-pressured ones). Let them know you are available for whatever they need, for instance:
*Help with grocery buying. Carry them in and put them away.

*Take some time with the children so your friend can just sleep.

*Be available to escort/drive for errands so the stress of driving is less.

*Make meals, set them up, help serve, clean up after. Because the spouses/significant others are often stressed to the max too.

*Do yard work. Clean their house. Do laundry. Just think of all the tasks we do on a daily basis that tire us. Then think of how they must feel in their complete and utterly debilitating exhaustion. Help them!

This is a minimal list, but I’m sure you get the idea. I have a friend who suffers from a connective tissue disorder and her physical symptoms run parallel with Shai’s. It’s a very difficult life, and I try to help her in any way I can. You, too, can make a difference in someone’s life. Share her post. Be on the lookout. Be an advocate for them. And offer assistance.

Joining you in the trenches, Shai, to help our friends and loved ones,

Words To Help

We Can’t Give More Than What We Are

we can't give more than what we are

Without giving ourselves compassion,

 we can’t be compassionate.

When we judge ourselves harshly,

we can’t be accepting.

If we feel that our lives lack,

we can’t give generously.

When we feel that we are not enough,

we can’t lift up and applaud others.

When we take ourselves too seriously,

we can’t enjoy life.

If we don’t love ourselves unconditionally,

we can’t truly love others without conditions.

If we aren’t honest with ourselves,

we can’t grow and change.

These are truths I’ve gleaned over the years

of re-inventing myself.

Of becoming the person I was truly created to be.

I believe JOY

Your life is amazing. If you are breathing, you have something to be grateful for. And gratefulness will create joy. It will bring abundance (I’m not talking monetary value, but the value of life, friends, and passions that fill your soul.)

And just in case you were wondering…..there is enough for all of us.

Enough love

passion

friends

work

joy

adventure

creativity

We have a tendency to view the world from our little worm hole

and think that we are never, ever going to be enough, have enough, or live enough.

I used to be like that.

Then I realized that there are billions of people. Millions of opportunities.

We live in a great big world.

And though you may not especially like your life right now, it can change.

Change is always possible.

Of course, it means conquering the limiting emotion of fear.

It means you have to stop lying to yourself.

To change means becoming vulnerable.

YIKES!! No way! I can’t do it! I’m so afraid! It will hurt too much.

And what will happen to me?

Change will happen. Better will happen. Abundance will happen.

So will love, joy, adventure, assurance, confidence, and fulfillment.

I’m rooting for you, cheering you on as you make wise, healthy choices toward becoming more so you can give more.

For it’s in giving that we grow toward abundance.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Love and hugs, Passionista
