I read something in the Word that totally grabbed me. You know, like when you have read verses many times and have all this head knowledge and then one day, just like that, God uses a metaphorical 2×4 to whop you and get your attention?

Yeah, like that!!

Ephesians 2:6

“He raised us up with Christ the Exalted One, and we ascended with Him into the glorious perfections and authority of the heavenly realm, for we are now co-seated as one with Christ!”

I love reading The Passion Translation Bible, and the footnote for that verse says, “To be placed or seated in heaven means we have been given the authority to be there.”

In John 3:13 Jesus is telling Nicodemus that He also exists in heaven. The footnote for that says, “While he was on earth ministering, Jesus was also in heaven in the spirit realm. Being in two places at the same time is also the privilege given to every believer. We are seated with Christ in the heavenly realm, and living our earthly life to please him. This is what it means to be “in Christ”. See Col. 3:1-5. In the realm of the Spirit, heaven and earth is one. Jesus is telling Nicodemus that only those seated in the heavenly realm will understand spiritual truths. See 1 Corinthians 2:1-10. The Aramaic is clearly saying “who is in heaven”.

So, why was I blown away? Because do you even understand what that actually means?

Jesus is seated at the right hand of God interceding for us, and He is seated IN US TOO! Not only have we, in the spirit, ascended with Him into heaven and all that entails, but we have HIM and all his power and authority in us as His believers and followers!

Jesus told his followers that He had given them authority…to overcome all the power of the evil one. (Luke 10:19) We have the same authority that Jesus has!!

That means we can defeat the enemy! We can command the demons to flee! We can heal!

In Matthew 28:18 Jesus tells His disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.”

So guess what, if we’ve chosen to make Jesus our Lord and Savior, all that authority is in US!

Does that not blow your mind? He is in us, He is with us, and He is empowering us! We can take authority over the things that battle us—people lying about us, emotional exhaustion, attacks on our children, our finances, chaos, fear, desperation, addiction, lack of self-control, lack of self-worth, anger—so many ways the enemy attacks us.

Yes, the world is full of evil, but it was in Jesus’ day too. He has equipped us, but we just don’t realize it. We don’t use the authority and power we have been given.

We are to pray BOLD prayers using all the authority that is ours!

I’m still astounded that the same Jesus that sits on the throne in heaven has given me the right to sit with Him, and actually also sits on the throne of my heart!!

I don’t know about you, but that fact changes how I do life!

Live boldly! Pray boldly! Love boldly! Follow God boldly!
