Honest, Keepin' It Real

Hello Sunshine?

hello sunshine

Cloudy. Doesn’t matter if the sun is shining. Everything is cloudy.

Your life.

Your outlook.

Your future.

It doesn’t feel like God is present in your life. You can’t see Him or feel Him, and you don’t even feel as if you know Him.

But let me tell you something that I have learned a LOT about these last several years.

Feelings are not facts.

Ugh, ugh, and more ugh! I hate those nice little phrases meant to convince us to do better. Meant to give our brains “tools” to cope with life.

Phrases like, “It’s a process.” I hate that “P” word too. Because when I hear it I instantly remember the agony of the ripping-off-the-layers-soul-searching and trying-to-allow-God’s-healing mess I was for so long.

And feelings? Oh my goodness God created me with huge emotions and passion so I was passionately emotional for so many years trying to deal with my brokenness and co-dependency and abandonment issues and low self-esteem.

Honestly I didn’t know if I’d ever feel “whole”.

But–and this is a good “but”, unlike some of those that send you crashing–but God

You see? God is like the sun in a way. He is always, always there. Doesn’t matter if you can see Him. Doesn’t matter how dark and stormy it is. Because if the sun wasn’t there it would be pitch black and the world would die. And if God wasn’t present the world would die. Simple.

So you have to remind yourself to get out of your feelings and into the facts.

The sun rises faithfully every day.

He is like that–faithful. You can count on Him.

He is in control of the earth and it is turning according to His plan.

On a day that’s dark and cloudy, remember that if the sun wasn’t behind the clouds it would be pitch black. It’s still there. So is God. When your life is stormy don’t think that He has abandoned you or failed you. That’s just your feelings talking. Go to the facts:

Joshua 1:9 “Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Matthew 28:20 “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Psalm 46:1 “God is a present help in trouble.”

Psalm 91:14 “Because you have delighted in Me, I will answer your cry for help every time you pray.

And you will feel my presence even in your time of pressure and trouble.”

So now it’s your turn. You have to talk to Him. Ask Him to help. To comfort. To show His light in your life. I mean, He can knock you over without your asking. He is a super-hero like that. But He waits until we ask because He’s already taken the first step. And it’s up to us.

God’s Son is the Light of the world.

Much love and blessings,

Passionista Mimi
