What If Mary Had Said No?

She did have a choice, you know.

What if she had looked at the angel and told him that there was no way, no how she was going to go along with this plan? Seriously? He somehow had chosen the wrong person.

She was only a young teen and had never even had relations with a man.

She was not old enough or strong enough to take on this role!

She did not want to suffer from her family disowning her.

She didn’t want to endure what the whole village would be saying about her.

Her? She’d been a good girl. Kept her nose clean, honored her parents, was loyal to the man she was engaged to.

And…she had loved God and honored Him for as long as she could remember.  

Oh yeah…that.

Well shoot. She really did love God. Had chosen to follow Him from the time she was a child.

So, what did Mary do when God said, “I have chosen you”?

She said, “Yes, Lord, I will do as You have asked.”

What about you?

Because God has chosen you, too. He has poured out His love for you in the most miraculous, visible way.

He has asked you seek, honor, and choose Him.

It’s your choice.

What will you say?
