Do Not Listen to the Voice of Fear!

“But Jesus refused to listen to what they were saying”, and said to Jairus—who had just been told his daughter had died, they were too late, no need to bother Jesus with this anymore—“Don’t yield to fear. All you need to do is keep on believing.” See Mark 5 for the account.

Jesus proceeded to Jairus’s house, walked in the door and told the people who were weeping and wailing that the girl was only sleeping, so they didn’t need to mourn so. They laughed at him for making such a bizarre statement. He threw them out! (Again, don’t listen to the naysayers when you know the truth.)

Then He commanded the girl to sit up. And asked her family to bring her food.

Jesus knew His power and His purpose and didn’t let weak unbelievers deter Him in any way.

“Jesus paid no attention to what they said.” (v. 36)

Oh how I love that statement!

This, this is our key to keeping our eyes on Jesus and our ears tuned to HIS voice!

Don’t listen to anyone who says you are not enough. That God isn’t enough.

Ignore. Or walk away.

You know the truth. Do not listen to fear!

Max Lucado expounds on this in his book “Begin Again”.

Jesus compels Jairus to see the unseen. When Jesus says, “Just believe…” He is imploring, “Don’t limit your possibilities to the visible. Don’t listen only for the audible. Don’t be controlled by the logical. Believe there is more to life than meets the eye!”

“Trust me,” Jesus is pleading. “Don’t be afraid. Just trust.”

We must be blind and deaf to the world’s clamoring, upheaval, and chaos. All the murmuring, complaining, dissension, and desperation—God says,

“Fear not nor be afraid (in the coming upheavals); haven’t I told you about these things long ago and declared it? Is there a God besides me? There is no other Rock.” Isaiah 44:8
